In May of 2018, Dustin Sieker, our son, brother, uncle and friend took his life. He was only 36 years old. He worked for Alberta Health Services for over 15 years. He was a 911 dispatcher, EMT, and supervisor for Northern Alberta. He also worked for the Air Ambulance on his days off. He, like so many First Responders, suffered in silence. The stigma around mental health is a significant issue. It is because of this tragedy that we started the Talk To Me Society. We raise money through a Color Run/Walk, Silent Auction, Care Basket Raffles, Golf Fundraiser, and donations from several generous individuals and companies. We take snacks and goodies to some of the EMS Stations and hospitals in our area to let them know that we care. We also do a "Let's Chalk About Mental Health" in a local park to bring more awareness to this topic. With the funds that we collect, we donate to the EMS Foundation, Suicide Prevention and Youth Mental Health (AHS) organizations. We also oversee the "Dustin Sieker Legacy Fund" and "Talk To Me First Responders" with the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta. Scholarships are awarded to First Responders and front line workers who want to improve their professional grow
